Diary: 10 Days, 9 Gigs, 5 Countries

Jul 20 – Pacha, Ibiza

Tonight the Invasion begins with our own Jose Nunez playing some of his big anthems and secret tracks not yet released on Subliminal. He had the club grooving and most of all he set the tempo perfectly for the night.

Kaskade is one of my most favorite American producers and he stayed true to form. He played vocals and his famous track ‘Angel on my Shoulder’ before head invader Erick Morillo took over. His sets have been so on point this summer, and there were plenty of vocals in the mix tonight. By 7am everyone who was left was beaming at another classic Subliminal Wednesday in Pacha.

Jul 21 – W Club, Athens, Greece

What a sexy VIP club this was. I mean, where else do they even know the tour managers name? Yes as I walked in, people were yelling my name all over the place! Here in Athens the woman are amazing!

Now this was our first time here in Athens in a very long time. Also it was the first time Erick had played this particular venue, so everyone was very excited. Erick walked into the club and the crowd went ballistic.

Sparklers were lit, air horns were being used, a huge Erick Moriilo banner was opened. Erick turned to me and said “wow they are real noisy!” I have to agree and this night continued amazing from start to finish. Special thanks to everyone that showed up and W club for putting together an evening Erick and I will not forget.

Jul 22 – Rock in Rome, Rome, Italy

It’s always a great experience when we work with Angels of Love. Today would be no different, with Erick playing alongside Jamiroquai on the giant stage at Rock in Rome. Let me tell you this place was rammed with at least 10,000 people by 10pm. Jamiroquai’s performance was amazing and he had the crowd in a trance. A tough act to follow as Erick Tweeted just before he was about to go on. He needn’t have worried though, the crowd was chanting his name. He dropped ‘Stronger’ and everyone is catching on to this now, creating a vibe that will be spoken about for months to come. Special thanks to Angels Of Love, Peppe,Rosario and Enzino.

Jul 23 – Tsunami, Sardinia, Italy

This was my first time in Sardinia, so I was very excited to see the venue, which was an intimate outdoor nightclub with a big room sound and plenty of VIPs. As Erick was escorted to the gig you could see he had his game face on. He played an amazing set and all I keep hearing is that Erick is the man when it comes to house music. I must agree, no one can touch Erick when he’s on fire like this. Special thanks again to Angel of Love. You keep the party rocking!

Jul 24 – Cavo Paradiso, Mykonos

This was Erick’s first time back at this famous venue in over 7 years and we were very excited to see the new upgrades. One thing was instantly clear – the sound system was the biggest upgrade. This place was jammed packed with the some of the most eager fans I’ve seen. Erick walked into the booth and it was just an awesome sight to see all the fans yell and go nuts. Even the promoter Stathis was choked up as his hero had returned to where he belonged in his eyes. This is a proper exciting club with VIP and a massive pool on the dancefloor. Everyone, and I mean everyone, knew the words to ‘Stronger’ here. One of the highlights of the event was the sunrise – just amazing. What can I say I have the most amazing job in the world. Special thanks to Stathis and his amazing staff at Cavo Paradiso.

Jul 27 – Pacha, Ibiza

Back from jetting around Europe all week we were at our home Pacha Ibiza. As we enter August tonight the line-up was immense. First up was Markus Binapfl who just rocked it the only way he know how. Must say Markus I loved that fedora you are wearing too! Next up was Subliminal resident Chuckie. He has amazed me this year. He just knows how to read a crowd, playing some amazing tunes that Dirty Dutch sound which is contagious. Chuckie you’re killing it!

The Erick Morillo finished things off. What can I say about the boss after a solid week of amazing gigs? Just that he continues to surprise with his musical selection – every night has a different flavour, he doesn’t let the clubbers down. Again all the beautiful ladies were in the house. There’s one who caught my eye – she knows who she is!

Jul 28 – Gotha Club, Cannes, France

This was our first time at this new venue in Cannes, which has been pulling in the biggest name DJs in the world since it opened and has a very sexy, VIP-driven vibe. You have LED lights streaming through the entire club. Erick entered the venue and people were screaming “Live Your Life!”. Erick continues to play like a legend each night and his smile captivates everyone in the room. We had some amazing dancers this evening (I can’t stop thinking of one). Amazing energy and love in Cannes.

Jul 29 – Via Notte, Corsica, France

Ohhhh myyyy oood!!! I can’t get enough of DJ Dove. I always love to come here. The energy is through the roof and the girl dancers are ridiculous so I knew we were in for a big night. Erick was hushed like a prize fighter. The crowd was parted and there you see Erick walking into his ring… the DJ booth. They had just installed a new sound system and it was unreal!

Jul 30 – Expofacic, Leiria, Portugal

Billboards were up all over Portugal as Erick Morillo and James Blunt were in concert together. This event was sold out for weeks. I arrived to hear James Blunt singing his big hits and he had all the ladies singing along with him. I’m still getting chills thinking about when everyone lit their lighters and raised their cell phones. Erick rocked up the stage and a big roar let loose by all the fans. Erick played “Stronger” everyone sang along.

Even James Blunt came out to say hello to Erick and the crowd let out another roar. There were over 20,000 people in attendance and all of them seemed to have a great night. This was by far the biggest music event of it’s kind in Portugal in a very long time. Special thanks to Jose Manso for bringing us out here. James Blunt Im now a bigger fan!

Diary: The Party Never Ends

We started things off for another pan-European party week as ever, at Pacha in Ibiza on a Wednesday night. There’s no mistaking the fact that the island is in full swing now it’s the middle of August. It manages to make each night feel special, and that was certainly the case at Voodoo Nights.

We had all our friends from Pacha NYC in the building, celebrating 5 years of the famous cherries having a home in the big apple. Eddie Dean, Rob Fernandez and the whole crew really brought the New York vibe to Ibiza.

Pacha Ibiza

Meanwhile in the main room Carl Kennedy opened up and set levels for the night at SEXY. Then Sidney Samson stepped up to do his thing and the crowd were loving it. He’s made quite a name for himself since smashing into everyone’s consciousness with ‘Riverside’, and the Pacha faithful were pleased he’d come as a guest of Subliminal Sessions.

From the moment Erick entered the club he just seemed 100% focussed, and when he hit the decks you could tell that he was. His set was all about “bringing sexy back” as he said. It was a proper voodoo witch doctor masterclass. The floor was packed till the bitter end and Erick played till 7:15am as too many people were screaming his name to let him stop.

Zoo Club, Sanxenxo

The next night we hit the mainland to play at the Zoo club in Sanxenxo. Wow. What a club and what love. As we pull up to the venue all you can see was a bunch of crazed young people screaming “Morilloooo!” An amazing sight to see, and it continued like that inside.

Once Erick arrived he said, “Are you ready? I’m ready.” Then things went boom! The whole place erupted, the heads bopping furiously and hands waving up in the air. “Morillo! Morillo! Morillo!”

It’s difficult to describe the feeling of seeing 3000 people screaming their heads off in 3 different rooms, all filtering Erick’s sound and video from the main booth. It was sick! Erick played his ass off. Even the owner mentioned these fans love Erick more than any other DJ they ever showcase. That’s saying a lot! Special thanks to all that showed. You were amazing. See you in Ibiza!

Via Notte, Corsica

Next night we were back at Via Notte in Corsica. This place was packed from the minute they opened. It’s an amazing outdoor venue with balconies over looking the dancefloor, and when Erick arrived security made a pathway for him through the crowd and it just looked like the champ had arrived!

Champagne arrives at Via Notte

He summarily blew Corsica’s mind with his accas and his perfect selection of mixes. ”Ooooh my god!” DJ Dove kept screaming on the mic, and with just cause. Then the rain came. It didn’t deter the clubbers though, as the wet dancefloor remained packed. One of Erick’s close friends had 7 bottles of Dom P sent to the booth for us to enjoy. Another amazing night and amazing people.

Lovelands 'water' dancefloor

As we made our way over to Amsterdam, nothing can stop the EM train. The Loveland festival was packed everywhere you looked, but our stage was particularly amazing. All the crazed fans were suspended on a rubber matt with a pool underneath. So when the crowd bounced they did it in waves, kinda like a human sea. Just sick!

Erick began his set and said “I’m going to take them right up, and then I’m going to bring it back sexy. You don’t need to play the hits in order to get this crowd to roar!” He had this crowd jumping so much that they broke the floor and it had to be given an emergency to repair while Erick was still spinning. Amazing.

Erick said he thought this was his best gig in Amsterdam in over 3 years, so thanks to you bouncing, waving, raving loons for making it so good.

Electrocity, Poland

We hopped on our plane in a frenzy to make the next gig at Electrocity in Poland. The rush clearly effected Erick as he was on fire when he arrived, and so was the crowd.

Roger Sanchez had played before so he had the crowd going already. Erick started with some amazing tracks and the crowd was soon screaming. Fans at the front were wearing Morillo t-shirts, and the visuals were sick. Erick mentioned “I feel like I’m on Star Trek with all these lasers.”

Then this whistle-stop visit was over. Erick said “I love these 2-hour quickies, but I wish we had more time. The fans here in Poland showed us a lot of love and I hope they remember this amazing showcase of music.”

Paradise Club, Mykonos

We flew across to Mykonos for the second time this month for Round 2 at Paradise club. In one word: sensational! The streets were buzzing, the VIP was sold out and pre sale tickets were at their highest levels too.

Erick arrived at the club, which is on a cliff with a giant pool smack in the middle of the dancefloor, and as usual the Italians were in the house “Napoli! Napoli! Napoli!” The club set off fireworks to let the town know Erick Morillo was in the house!

He set off the night with his monster track ‘Live Your Life’ and the crowd went insane. The promoter said this was one of their biggest nights of the summer and you can’t imagine the vibe, you had to just be there. Erick told me this was his best time ever at Paradise club and he can’t wait to come back next year. As always, were does the time go? Erick ended his crazed set at 8:30am and their must have been 400 people still there when the sun was well and truly up from behind the cliffs. Special thanks to Thomas, Salvatore, Adam, Agent Greg and the whole staff at Paradise club. See you next year!

The party never ends, but this particular week finished up at the legendary Cocorico in Riccione, Italy. And wow! I can only describe this place in 2 words: f’ing amazing! The club is the shape of a pyramid but the ceiling is made of glass so you can gaze at the stars.

Cocorico, Riccione, Italy

The people’s energy here was of the meter. Again Napoli was in the house! Erick had a crowd of thirsty Italians baying for his music, and he quenched their thirst with an amazing display of the house music the love. “This is a great way to end this week’s tour,” he told me. “I’m living the dream!”

Special thanks Enzino and his whole promotion team. You guys rock. As we headed home to Ibiza, Erick noted that no matter where he goes in the world Napoli is always representing!

Diary: Corsica and Madrid Party with Morillo

Voodoo Nights, Pacha Ibiza

Voodoo Nights this week opened with Carl Kennedy licking his lips at all the hot ladies on the dance floor. I don’t know, but I think Carl should have been a model! Check him out looking the part in the new Blackwater video and let me know what you think.

Carl passed the reigns on to Little Louie Vega. If any of you don’t know, he’s a living house music legend and also Erick’s mentor. This guy was playing remixes of ‘French Kiss’ and ‘Voodoo Ray’, which still sound so cool on a big system today.

Voodoo Nights at Pacha

Then Pacha’s own Voodoo Doctor was back in session. Erick started his set with a David Morales remix of Lady Gaga, ‘Ra Ra Ra’ and it was fire on the dancefloor. Erick had a few tricks up his sleeve too. He used this night for trying out some brand new beats and being the showman that he is, had the crowd totally in a trance of house music.

Special thanks go to his endlessly enthusiastic fans. Watching them jump up and down makes all the hard work that we put into every Wednesday mean so much. As Erick best put it when we’re looking out at that sea of dancers “I’m living the dream!”

Erick Morillo at Via Notte, Corsica

Friday we were at Via Notte in Corsica. What a sexy club. This venue has a little of both worlds inside. If you’re hungry you can dine and if you want to party, well, just walk down the stairs and there you have an outdoor night club with an awesome sound system. DJ Dove opened up for Erick and he set the mood. Again, Erick was trying new mixes and new ideas and he killed it. He shouted “No one can touch me right now,” and I must say I believe him! Let not forget to mention how beautiful the women are in Corsica. Wow! I may have to come back real soon.

Via Notte, Corsica

Saturday we moved on to Fabrik in Madrid, Spain. This is like Erick’s home in Madrid. The fans love him here. As soon as I walked into the building people were asking “when is Erick starting?” So this evening Abel The Kid was opening up, and boy was he on fire. He ended his set with Queen’s ‘We Are The Champions’, remixed by him. The crowd, still full of World Cup pride, went totally insane.

Fabrik, Madrid

I don’t know where Erick is getting all his ideas from at the moment, but man he is really on fire. I can’t stop dancing in the booth. Again this Colombian flag is following us. Again Erick signed it for the fans who keep reminding us where we are from. Let’s not fail to mention the hottest dancer’s we’ve seen in a long time. I love Madrid. So much energy and so much love. What a great combination to round off another great weekend. Special thanks to all the Spanish fans who support Subliminal. See you soon Madrid.
