“I’m very, very happy with the way Sondos has been going since we decided to relaunch it,” says label boss Erick Morillo.
With new releases coming almost weekly, and a tough compilation showcasing the sound of the revived label mixed by Antranig, Sondos is certainly back with some style.
“I really got back into being excited about music at the beginning of this year,” says Erick. “I didn’t have a plan, but I realised all my producers were knocking out such good music… its time to re-launch Sondos.”
Since then there’s been a flood of quality club tracks that showcase the “deeper, darker, more dirty sound of Subliminal,” as the boss puts it.
And Erick has found the perfect champion for this late night sound in Antranig, the former Danny Tenaglia engineer who has returned to making his own tracks at just the right moment for the imprint.
“Antranig put out some good tracks on Subliminal a few years ago,” says Erick “but when he played me he new stuff I could see that he’d really stepped up his game. ‘Shake That Ass’ has been one of my biggest records of the summer. Steve Angello came up to me when he first heard me drop it and was shouting “what it that?!”, so I always knew we’d put it out on the new Sondos.
“He’s my Sondos champion, leading my house music soldiers, and I love that fucking dirty compilation! It represents him, his sound and Sondos perfectly.”
With great feedback and a stock of huge new tracks waiting for release, Sondos has returned stronger than ever before. Are you onto it yet?
