When the musical minds of Erick Morillo, Junolarc, and DJ Eako come together, the end result is simply sublime tech house. Their new track “Better Life,” out now on Subliminal Records, starts off with a deep and dark intro that slowly builds with progressive sweeps and uplifting pans meeting with Miss McClore’s vocals. The new track is filled with atmospheric textures and layers featuring underlying humming bass and pulsing kicks.
Raised in Colombia, then New Jersey, Erick has a litany of diverse influences like Latin rhythms, reggae and hip-hop from a young age. Sparking his interest in DJing at only 11 years old, Erick is now a platinum-selling artist with globally chart topping releases including “Reach,” “Believe,” “Do What You Want,” “I Feel Love” and Reel 2 Real’s 90s dance hit “I Like to Move It” (used in both Madagascar movies). Morillo’s non-stop DJing schedule has seen him cross the globe playing renowned clubs and festivals including Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Pacha in Ibiza, Marquee in New York and Avalon in Los Angeles. Erick Morillo recently released “Thunder & Lightning” with Eli & Fur, and “This Is How We Do It” with Junolarc on Subliminal Records earlier this year.
Berlin-based producer Junolarc collaborates with Erick Morillo for the second time this year after being signed to the Subliminal Records with “This Is How We Do It” last month. Still in the early stages of his career, Junolarc is proving yet again Erick’s knack for spotting new talent early on. Following “Better Life,” Junolarc is set to release “Blinded” on the imprint later this year.
No stranger to Subliminal Records, DJ Eako’s collaboration on “Better Life” marks his return to the imprint since the release of his single “What The Phat” with Jason Chance in 2013. Beginning his career as a producer in 2005 with Pacha Recordings, DJ Eako has since worked with numerous renowned labels including Cr2, Stereo, Spinnin’ Records and Kingdom Kome Cuts.
